Best Irish Historical Romances!

Each March, in honor of St. Patrick's Day,  I feature historical romances set in Ireland or with Irish characters on my Regan's Romance Reviews blog. And I have a list of the "best" ones--those I've rated 4 or 5 stars.

I developed this list for a friend of Irish descent who loves historical romances set in the emerald isle or with an Irish hero or heroine to admire, who asked me to recommend some. The romances on my list feature Ireland, Irish heroes and heroines, or Irish immigrants in America. They cover all time periods. Some of the stories transcend typical historical romance as they bring to life heartrending tales of the wonderful Irish people who survived much hardship to help make America great.

You can see the new list HERE!

There are three phases to select the winners: (1) the nomination by reviewers, (2) the voting by readers for finalists and then (3) the judging by a panel.

You can vote for my book to proceed to the finalists HERE. It's in the Historical Post Medieval category and now is the time to vote (March 24-30).

A Regency Era Pirate!

In case you wondered if piracy on the high seas was still going on in the 19th century, it was! (Well it still goes on today but I write historical romance, not contemporary, so we're dealing with history here.)

With the end of the War of 1812 and the Napoleonic wars in 1815, an unprecedented wave of piracy swept the American seaboard and the Caribbean when some of the hundreds of captains who were privateers in the wars, now with free time on their hands, began preying upon the growing numbers of merchant vessels.

One such pirate was Roberto Cofresi, a tall blond giant of a man with piercing blue eyes who wrecked havoc on the merchant fleets other than those of Royal Spain. Today there is a monument to him in Puerto Rico. Read about the fascinating real pirate who is a character in my seafaring Regency, WIND RAVEN, HERE.

Wind Raven is here!

More than a year in the making, and based on a solid foundation of research into schooners of the early 19th century, pirates operating during the Regency, and the Brits living in Bermuda, my seafaring pirate Regency romance is finally here!

It's the story of Captain Jean Nicholas Powell and the young woman he is forced to take as a passenger on a mission into the Caribbean for the Prince Regent. Tara McConnell was raised on her father's ships, the sisters of the wind they called the Baltimore clippers that helped America run the British blockades in the War of 1812. She has lost much at the hands of the British, yet she cannot help respect the handsome ever-frowning English captain of the Wind Raven who seems to think he can kiss her whenever the fancy takes him.

Here's how New York Times bestselling author of high seas romances, Danelle Harmon, described Wind Raven:

“A salty, sweeping, evocative tale of romance on the high seas—and a good old-fashioned love story that will keep you up far, far past your bedtime. So, reach for the coffee. Brava for Regan Walker!"
