The order of things...
Readers have asked me in what order should they read my stories. They are all related, and though they can be read as “stand alones,” this is the order I recommend:
Racing With The Wind (London and Paris 1816), book 1 in the Agents of the Crown
Against the Wind (London & the Midlands of England, Spring/Early Summer 1817), book 2 in the Agents of the Crown
The Shamrock & The Rose (London, February 1818), short story
The Holly & The Thistle (London, December 1818), short story
Wind Raven (London, the Atlantic on a schooner, Bermuda, the Caribbean and Baltimore, Spring/Summer 1817), book 3
in the Agents of the Crown (coming in late 2013)
The reason I suggest you read Wind Raven last even though it takes place in 1817 is that with the exception of the beginning, it does not take place in London and with the exception of a few characters from Against the Wind, it features a new cast of characters. The short stories, on the other hand, were written knowing many readers would have read Racing With The Wind and some of the characters are related, including Muriel, the Dowager Countess of Claremont, introduced in Against the Wind. She is the main secondary character in my two short stories and there are some characters from Racing With The Wind in The Holly & The Thistle.
